A six-year-old boy has sustained serious facial injuries following a dog attack in Inverness.
The incident happened in the Culduthel area of the city around 2.45pm on Thursday.
Police were called to the scene and the boy was initially taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment before being transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
A 42-year-old woman is due to be reported to the procurator fiscal.
A police spokesman said: “The child was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness and subsequently transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment to serious facial injuries. These injuries are not considered life-threatening.
“The dog has been removed from the property.
“A 42-year-old woman will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal under the Dangerous Dogs Act in connection with the incident.”
