A woman has been taken to hospital following a fire at a burger van in Orkney today. Fire crews in Kirkwall were called to the old bus station car park on Great Western Road where ‘The Munch Box’ fast food van was set alight. A road diversion was put in place by police while two fire appliances from the nearby depot used hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze. The fire was out in just under an hour with crews leaving the scene at 10.29am. A female was taken to Balfour hospital as a precaution. A spokeswoman said: “Emergency services received a call of a burger van on fire at around 9.32am this morning. “A police diversion was in place at Great Western Road but is no longer in force.” Two fire appliances remain at the scene using a main and hose reel jet.
