A Fort William man has been named as the driver killed in a multi-vehicle collision on a Highland road.
Matthew Duncan, 23, was the driver of a red Audi RS3 which was involved in a collision with a white Renault Clio, black Subaru Impreza, a silver Ford S Max and a Volkswagen Transporter van, which was parked in a lay-by at the time of the incident.
The collision happened near Fassfern on the A830 between Fort William and Glenfinnan around 12.45pm yesterday.
Five other people were taken to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.
The road was closed until around 11.10pm to allow for a thorough investigation of the scene.
Road Policing Sergeant Donnie Mackinnon said: “Our thoughts are with everyone affected but particularly with Mr Duncan’s family and friends at this difficult time.
“We are continuing to work to establish the full circumstances and anyone who hasn’t yet spoken to a police officer is urged to come forward.
“I would particularly urge anyone who may have seen any of these vehicles prior to the collision or who may have dashcam footage which could assist our enquiries makes contact.
“Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1599 of August 19.
“I would also thank everyone who had their journey affected by the road closure for their understanding and patience.”
