There were two false alarms in Shetland early this morning.
A beacon activation from Lerwick harbour and a musterboard alert from an oil platform both happened within a few hours of each other.
At 6am, a beacon was activated within Lerwick harbour which sparked a search for the owners of the distress alert.
The beacon was registered to a Norwegian yacht that was in Lerwick. When contacted by emergency services, its occupants were unaware it had been set off.
Coastguard teams were stood down by 8am with all passengers and the vessel deemed “safe and well”.
At 9.48am the Coastguard in Shetland were called on again, this time for a potential emergency aboard an oil platform.
A spokesman for the Coastguard said: “We were alerted to a very short musterboard at an oil platform. Workers were called to muster at 9.48am and were discharged 10 minutes later at 9.58am.”
