The incident at 3.35pm took place on the A835 Inverness to Ullapool road, approximately one mile south of the Braemore junction. The two casualties were trapped and had to be cut free by firefighters. Police said they sustained serious injuries. An air ambulance was called to provide assistance and two fire crews, one from Ullapool and one from Dingwall, were also sent. A police spokesman said: “Two people have been injured in a one-vehicle crash on the A835. “Serious injuries have been sustained in the incident, with the helimed called to provide assistance.” A fire service spokeswoman said: “Hydraulic cutting gear, stabilising gear and a hose reel jet were in use to free trapped persons.” The route is popular with commuters seeking to reach Ullapool for connecting sea travel to the Western Isles.
