A woman who had lost her dog for more than three days in rural Lochaber was ecstatic to get him back – and she even managed to capture the moment he returned on camera.
Frankie Austin lost her rescue husky dog, Blue, on Friday evening, and in spite of a wide ranging search of the area, involving many people, she was unable to find him.
After almost giving up hope yesterday, a person reported that he might have seen Blue near the picnic area at the Corran Ferry, Ms Austin decided to start the search again this morning.
This afternoon, Ms Austin went out on the hillside where the dog was last seen to make a film of the terrain for those searching – when lo, and behold – Blue came running towards her and her two other dogs.
Ms Austin said: “We have been everywhere looking for him and so many people have helped us. We had a siting of him around this area near to the picnic area on the A82 Onich to Fort William road at Corran late on Sunday night.
“The person who saw Blue looked at the photos and said 100% it was him. So we were out searching. As I was making a video – Blue just ran up to me and the dogs.
“I have been so worried for him, I have had him for five years, but he was a rescue dog from London and he didn’t have a very good life before.
“I don’t blame him for wanting to run in the hills, but we have been beside ourselves with worry. I just want to say thank you to everyone who helped, and I hope by sharing this video it will bring some good news into people’s lives.”
