Details of a four-year £2million contract for air services will be revealed at the Argyll Islands Strategic Group on Thursday.
The meeting of Argyll and Bute Council is being held in the Columba Centre at Bowmore on the isle of Islay.
The subsidised air services from Oban to Coll, Colonsay and Tiree were secured for the next four years after the council awarded a new contract to Hebridean Air.
Earlier this year The Press and Journal reported the procurement of the services had to be abandoned after no compliant tender submission was received.
Council officers will update the members of the group in a report: “After further engagement with market operators a second tender process was undertaken. Following completion of the evaluation process, a compliant tender within the available budget was received from Hebridean Air Services Ltd, the incumbent operator.”
Group members are asked to note: “The new contract for Argyll Air Services will commence with the operator Hebridean Air on September 16 2019 and operate for a period of four years until September 15 2023 for the sum of £2,048,828.”
The new four year contract will continue on the same timetable as the interim contract. The service offers an amended number of flights, although flights for school pupils travelling to Oban have been secured as a priority.
There will be no break in service from one contract finishing and the other commencing. The current interim contract will continue.
