Two kayakers were pulled from the water after the emergency services were called to a Highland loch.
Police are unable to confirm the condition of the two men, who got into difficulty at Laggan Locks near Lochaber during poor weather earlier today.
Stornoway Coastguard said they provided assistance at Loch Lochy, along with the Coastguard team from Fort William and a search and rescue helicopter from Inverness.
A police spokesman said: “We received a report of two people in the water at Laggan Locks at the north side of Loch Lochy at 4.31pm.
“They have since been taken from the water. We can’t give an update on their condition at this time.”
He confirmed that the two people had been in a kayak.
An eyewitness at the scene last night said: “There was a lot of activity. The coastguard helicopter was here, there was an ambulance and police.
“It was busy around the area with other people who were boating and kayaking.
“The weather conditions weren’t good. It had been raining all day.”
Loch Lochy is a large freshwater expanse in Lochaber. It forms part of the Caledonian Canal and runs alongside the A82 Glasgow to Inverness road.
