Argyll and Bute has been ranked as the sixth top local authority in Scotland for the number of young people who move on to positive destinations when they leave school.
Latest figures, published by Skills Development Scotland (SDS), show that 94.8 per cent of 16 to 19 year-olds in Argyll and Bute are in employment, education or training.
This is up 0.6 per cent from 2018 and 3.2 per cent higher than the national rate for the fourth year running.
The council’s policy lead for education, Councillor Yvonne McNeilly, said: “It’s clear from these statistics that we have many determined young people in Argyll and Bute who are working hard to achieve success in life.
“Together with a range of partners we promote enterprise and entrepreneurship to help our young people raise their ambitions. We also run our own award-winning modern apprenticeship scheme.
“We are committed to ensuring that our young people are equipped to secure and sustain positive destinations and that they are able to access appropriate pathways into work.
“We are clear that we do all we can to make them aware of the wide range of opportunities that are available. The report indicates that we are doing this well and that young people leave Argyll and Bute’s education service better equipped to build their lives than most other areas in Scotland. Well done everyone.”
