British journalist and broadcaster John Sergeant is preparing to take centre stage as Nairn Book and Arts Festival makes its return.
The 75-year-old broadcaster – best known for his reports on BBC1’s The One Show and hosting Have I Got News For You? – will join a star-studded line up of award-winning poet’s playwrights and musicians as the event commences for its 16th year.
Appearing on the closing day of the popular event, the guest speaker will reflect on his prosperous career in the industry in celebration of the arts.
During the six-day event starting today, a series of talks and exhibitions will take place as well as see the return of Teen Music Event featuring music, poetry and short performances.
Mavis Macdonald, Chair of the Nairn Book and Arts Festival, said: “The festival’s programme is built around the concept of identity, and our events delve into who we are as people, as a small seaside community, as Highlanders, and as a nation.”
