One in four people who were scanned at the weekend in Inverness were found to have liver damage.
The British Liver Trust has released the figures following the visit of its mobile Love Your Liver unit in Falcon Square on Saturday, where members of the public were allowed the opportunity to receive the vital health check-up.
More than 70 people took part, with 25% advised to visit their GP and introduce changes to their lifestyle.
Natasha North of the British Liver Trust said: “This is what our Love Your Liver campaign is all about, educating the public how to take better care of their liver and making sure we detect liver disease at the earliest stage.”
The charity has also revealed that at least 90% of liver damage is preventable, with pleas made to members of the public not exceed more than the recommended weekly intake of alcohol which stands at 14 units.
