A trio of kind-hearted charity cyclists have been left overwhelmed with the support they have received after a mammoth cycle from Edinburgh to Skye.
Charlene MacLeod, Iona MacLennan and Graeme Finnie departed Skye on Monday ahead of their incredible challenge to take on the 240-mile route in just over three days.
The team, two of whom work at the charity Kyleakin Connections, completed the impressive challenge on schedule.
Beginning on Tuesday, the trio – with support crew member Caroline Langlands – set off from St Andrews Square in the capital, heading along the Union Canal past the Falkirk Wheel along to Tyndrum, before taking on The West Highland Way to Kinlochleven.
Heading over the Corran Ferry, the team headed for Mallaig before touching base on Skye, taking in the final stretch from Armadale to the centre in Kyleakin on Thursday.
They raised approximately £7,500 for the charity which encourages and supports independent living and life skills for people with learning and physical disabilities.
Mrs MacLeod, the manager of Kyleakin Connections, said: “I don’t think it has really sunk in yet just what we have done.
“We are overwhelmed by the support we have received.
“It is amazing. We reckon we are close to £7,500. Initially, I thought we would raise around £3,000 but it is just incredible the generosity people have shown.”
All the proceeds from the cycle will go towards extending the rear of the building with an additional two-room facility for service users and the local community.
