Highland knitters have given Inverness Town House a new lease of life after creating a replica of the historic structure ahead of the return of a popular knitting festival.
Thousands of attendees from more than 22 countries are expected to descend on the city next week in preparation for the fourth Loch Ness Knit Festival.
The Town House masterpiece – created by Bramley Knitters – will be on display until Tuesday in the Victorian Market before taking centre stage at this year’s festival being held at Inverness Leisure Centre from Thursday, October 17.
Various other works of art including a knitted castle, bike, trolley and a suitcase will also be on display during the four-day event.
Provost of Inverness Helen Carmichael said: “Last year the centre-piece for the festival was an eye-catching knitted replica of Inverness Castle, which was very well received by festival goers and the public, and has inspired the knitters to turn their talents to tackling a knitted town house. Knit Fest brings so much creativity from far and wide and I am sure the 2019 festival is going to be a great success.”
