Motorists were subject to over two-hour delays after a crash forced one lane of the Cromarty Bridge to close earlier today. Emergency services attended the two-vehicle collision at around midday, that involved a van and a car at the south junction of the bridge. The van veered off-road before stopping in a ditch. Two fire appliances were dispatched from both Inverness and Dingwall following reports of smoke coming from the engine compartment of the van. On arrival of the first crew, the second were stood down as no action was with firefighters making the vehicles safe. An ambulance was sent to the crash site and attend to any injures sustained – but they are thought to be not life-threatening. The road reopened at 2.30pm with a traffic management system in place supervised by police.
