Calendars featuring images of a popular cat which prowls the streets of Lerwick in Shetland – and its shops and pubs – are being sent across the world as part of a fundraising drive.
A 2020 edition of the Adventures of Tommy calendar has been made to raise money for the local MRI scanner appeal and Cats Protection.
A calendar was also made last year and it raised a total of £1,300 for the two causes.
The calendar features images of Tommy the cat, who has achieved local fame thanks to his penchant for visiting Lerwick shops and also pubs when he works up a thirst.
Photos of the curious cat are posted regularly posted on Facebook, with the Adventures of Tommy page attracting thousands of followers.
Tommy’s owner Emma Mackay said the 2019 calendar did “amazingly well”.
“I had originally ordered 200 and thought that was ambitious, however, I had to order 50 more,” she said.
“I think it will do better this year too, seeing as Tommy has nearly 3,000 followers now. I’ve had around 50 people message from outwith Shetland to get one posted to them so it’s amazing. From as far as US, Canada and New Zealand as well, so it’s really lovely to see.”
Tommy’s feline brother Wee Kev was not available for comment, but it is understood he is ‘prrroud’ of his sibling’s fame.
