Passengers at Oban Airport were surprised to see a familiar face arrive as Mr Bean, aka Rowan Atkinson, arrived by private plane.
The comic was spotted on Monday and is believed to be interested in looking at property in the area. It is understood he already owns a home in Lochaline in Lochaber.
An onlooker said: “He flew in at around 11am in a King Air jet. It was just him and two pilots aboard the plane.
“He picked up a hire car that was left in the car park for him. It was a white Nissan Note from Flit. He must have spent the day in the area because he returned to the airport at around 4.30pm to catch his plane and head back down south.”
The 64-year-old is best known for his work on the sitcoms Blackadder and Mr Bean.
He was casually dressed in jeans and a jacket as he drove round the Argyll area.
Some of his other work includes the 1983 James Bond film Never Say Never Again, playing a bumbling vicar in Four Weddings and a Funeral, voicing the red-billed hornbill Zazu in The Lion King, and playing jewellery salesman Rufus in Love Actually.
He also featured in the BBC sitcom The Thin Blue Line. His work in theatre includes the 2009 West End revival of the musical Oliver!
Back in 2013 Sir Alex Ferguson visited Oban Airport during his summer holiday.
