A 34-year-old was treated for smoke inhalation after a fire at a cottage outside Finstown on Orkney.
Firefighters from Stromness and Kirkwall spent more than three-and-a-half hours dealing with the blaze at Binscarth, on the outskirts of Finstown, at 5.06pm on Tuesday.
The crews extinguished the flames using hose reel jets and thermal imaging cameras to locate hot spots.
Police said a 34-year-old man was treated for smoke inhalation on site by ambulance crews, but he is understood to have been taken to hospital for a subsequent check-up.
The extent of damage is being assessed and investigations are being carried out, but a police spokeswoman said the fire is not believed to be suspicious.
The fire resulted in the A965 Kirkwall to Stromness road, from the Harray junction to Finstown, being closed.
Alternative routes were put in place over the Heddle Hill and through Orphir, from Kirkwall, or turning off at Stenness and up over the hill into Orphir.
Fire crews were stood down at 8.42pm and the road was reopened.
