Talks over a pay dispute between air traffic controllers and Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd (Hial) are to resume this week in a bid to avert strike action.
In a joint statement issued by Hial and the union Prospect, they said: “Both parties are hopeful that progress can be made in the coming discussions.”
“Highlands and Islands Airports Limited and Prospect are announcing the resumption of talks aimed at resolving the ongoing dispute between Hial and Prospect air traffic control officers. Talks will begin again at the end of this week.”
Last year, Hial air traffic controllers rejected a 2% pay rise which was offered to bridge their gap in pay when compared to other similar operators across the UK.
Instead they have been seeking a 10% rise.
Prospect recently received a new pay offer staff, including air traffic controllers who are currently in dispute and they are consulting our members on the offer.
While no further strike days are planned the union’s work to rule remains in place.
