Motorists are advised to take care on roads this morning as temperatures across the region drop.
A yellow weather alert for ice has been issued for the Highlands and islands.
North communities are feeling the freeze with temperatures of -3C in Dalganachan and Scardroy and colder still in the surrounding areas of the Glen Affric Youth Hostel reaching -6C.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice.
A Met Office statement said: “Scattered heavy showers will fall onto freezing surfaces overnight and Monday morning.
“These could wash off any surface treatment and lead to the formation of icy surfaces.
“Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces are expected – probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.”
The warning is in place until 10am.
