Police searching for a man reported missing in Oban say they have found a body.
Officers had issued an urgent appeal for information after 49-year-old Alex Carter was reported missing after having last been seen leaving for work in the Dalintart Drive area of the town at around 7am on Tuesday.
In an update this morning, police said a body had been found in a wooded area near Stevenson Street in Oban at around 10am.
A spokesman said: “The man has not yet been formally identified. However, it is believed to be Alex Carter who had been reported missing in the early hours of today.
“His family have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
Officers had earlier said Mr Carter’s family were “distraught” after the “loving family man” had gone missing.
A statement said it was “completely out of character for him to go off and not be in touch with his family and friends”.
