Drifting kayak sparks Oban Lifeboat alert

Oban lifeboat was called out yesterday morning after a drifting kayak was spotted off the west Argyll coast.

A creel boat working south of Kerrera noticed the boat, which had nobody in it.

The lifeboat was launched at 7.10am and crew established that the kayak belonged to a group of kayakers who were camping on the shore nearby.

Duty coxswain David Isaacs said: “It’s always good to have such a happy outcome.”
