Four people have been rescued in the Western Isles after a car crashed into a house and caught fire.
A blue Vauxhall Zafira collided with the home on the A857 road after its junction with the A858, known locally as the Barvas corner.
Police said the car caught fire and “subsequently lit the house on fire”.
The incident happened at 1.30am.
Three men aged 22, 32 and 36, who were in the car, and a 61-year-old woman inside the house were rescued by emergency services.
The driver and two passengers were taken to Western Isles Hospital with serious injuries.
Three fire crews from Shawbost, Stornoway and Port of Ness used jets to extinguish the fire. They left the scene at 3.18am.
The road is down to single lane traffic while police carry out their investigations.
A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with alleged road traffic offences.
Sergeant Donald Sinclair, of Stornoway’s Church Street station, said: “Our inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone who saw the crash or who saw a blue Vauxhall Zafira being driven on the A857 before 1.30am to come forward.
“I’m particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam footage which could help with our inquiries.”
Those with information can contact police on 101.
