Members of the Lochalsh community have been praised for their goodwill after a blessing box was placed in the village of Kyle to assist those who may be facing hardship.
The blessing box is situated next to the bottle bank recycling centre in the main car park and is open for members of the community to contribute to or take items that they may require.
The box has been filled with non-perishable food items and toiletries and has been described by its creator as “a foodbank without eyes”.
Local councillor Biz Campbell hailed the idea.
She said: “I first saw one in Carbost on Skye and thought it was a great idea.
“We know there is a need and we wanted it to be accessible and not too obvious.
“A lot of people may be too proud or may not want to go through the whole procedure of using food banks, so it is there to help everyone and show that the whole community cares for one another.”
Ms Campbell has also praised the timing of the introduction in the run-up to the season of goodwill.
She added: “I am certainly grateful for everything we have and everything I am given, but there are some people who have nothing, and that can be due to no fault of their own.
“It has been amazing to see the reaction of the community in throwing their support behind the blessing box.”
