Invergordon Lifeboat were conveyed to the scene on Saturday after the broken down vessel began drifting new the anchored rigs in the Firth.
Two men aboard a vessel were rescued by lifeboat volunteers after a power loss left them drifting toward oil rigs in the Cromarty Firth.
After setting off from Nigg, the 10ft vessel began suffering engine trouble during the incoming tide leaving the crew drifting ever closer to the anchored unmanned rigs, shortly after 8pm on Saturday.
Invergordon’s all-weather Trent Class lifeboat ‘Douglas Aikman Smith’ was launched from its berth around 8.36pm following reports of a vessel adrift and arrived on the scene within a matter of minutes.
The stranded crew used a head torch to relay a beacon outlining their location to the lifeboat team.
With no injuries, the crew established a tow with the boat which escorted them to Nigg slipway where the two men arrived on dry land followed by the recovery of their vessel.
With Aberdeen’s HM Coastguard updated, the all-weather lifeboat was released from service to make its way back to Invergordon’s West Harbour.
The lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service again by 10.25pm.
