A woman was freed from a vehicle by fire crews using cutting equipment following a crash south of Garve.
Police received the call about the collision between a car and a van on the A835 between Tarvie and the Gorston junction at 4.10pm.
Officers attended the scene alongside the fire and ambulance services.
The road was closed in both directions, with large diversions in place and a two-mile tailback on either side of the crash.
A spokeswoman for the fire service confirmed that two crews from Dingwall attended the incident.
She said: “Fire crews used hydraulic cutting gear to remove a woman from one of the vehicles. She was transferred into the care of the ambulance service to be transported to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.”
A police spokeswoman added: “A crash involving a car and a van happened at 4.10pm at the Gorstan Junction of the A835.
“A woman was taken to Raigmore Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. No-one else required any treatment.
“One lane of the road was re-opened to traffic at 6.15pm.”
Highland Council advised parents that the Dingwall Academy bus to Lochluichart was delayed as a result of the crash.
In the north east, police were dealing with a collision on the A92 last night.
The incident, involving a car and a van, happened on the Muchalls Bend at 5.05pm.
Both vehicles left the road. There were no reports of any injuries.
