A road in Orkney is to remain closed overnight after a road sweeper toppled onto its side.
The vehicle, owned by Orkney Islands Council, was travelling on Scorradale Road this afternoon when it careered into a roadside ditch toppling onto its side.
Council officials took to social media to confirm the road would remain closed overnight to facilitate “recovery of the mechanical road sweeper” through use of a crane.
A spokesman said: “There’s a road closure in place this afternoon and overnight on the Scorradale road.
“This is to allow for the recovery of a mechanical road sweeper which has ended up on its side and needs to be recovered by crane. The driver is uninjured.
“Access to homes in the area is unaffected and drivers are asked to follow traffic diversions that have been put in place.”
