A Skye woman who braved the chill and slept rough has raised nearly £4,000 for the homeless.
Sarah Jane Reid took part in her third sleep-out in her home village of Kyleakin, taking to the local bus stop with just a sleeping bag and cardboard as cover.
Miss Reid – who now completed three sleep-outs – was joined by her partner Gordy MacDonald and described it as “the worst conditions yet”.
She said: “It was a very successful and enlightening experience again, however, temperatures dropped to below freezing.
“It was very bittersweet getting home to our cosy house in the morning as all we could think about were the poor people out there not doing the same.”
Visitors kept the duo company until around midnight before they got their heads down for the night, raising nearly £4,000 for Social Bite.
Miss Reid added: “It was lovely to have people stop in on us for a blether.
“The total is just amazing. It is a difficult time of year financially for so many people but the generosity shown is just amazing.”
Miss Reid emphasised how fortunate she felt to head home in the morning for “a hot shower and cosy bed”.
The total, which stood yesterday at £3,912.44, now brings Miss Reid’s fundraising total over her three sleep-outs to more than £11,000.
