A calendar produced to raise money for a Lochaber charity has sold out just in time for the arrival of New Year.
Lochaber Men in Kilts, 2020 Visions in Tartan, features a number of local sportsmen who volunteered to don a kilt and flash a bit of muscle to help meet the costs of Lochaber Sensory Care outreach clinics from Mallaig to Glencoe and the Ardnamurchan Peninsula.
The calendar is a uniquely Lochaber product, the pictures having been shot free of charge by photographer Iain Ferguson, sponsored by local businesses and even printed in Fort William, although many have ended up in stockings on the other side of the globe.
Manager of Lochaber Sensory Care, Esther Briers said: “We are very grateful to the local companies who helped meet the print costs and everyone who gave up their time to produce the calendar, I know sometimes braving the cold and wet in getting their month done.
“The pictures are fantastic and have caused a real buzz, not only raising money, but our profile in the Lochaber. where we assist people with sound and sight difficulties.”
Based at an office in Caol shopping centre, where the charity cleans and changes batteries in hearing aids at no cost as well as offering advice on equipment, they also undertake home visits and hold regular “outreach clinics” taking their services to more distant locations for people who may be unable to travel.
Ms Briers said: “Obviously travelling can be costly so the few hundred pounds raised by the calendar is a very welcome sum in helping us to continue to have a presence in these locations often an 80 – 100 mile round trip from the office.”
