A mountain rescue team were called out this afternoon following reports of shouts for help.
Members of Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team were joined by the R951 helicopter crew to carry out an extensive search of Sgurr a Mhiam, near Kinlochleven.
A spokesman said no one was found and think it was a false alarm with good intentions.
They are asking anyone who was in Glen Nevis between Lower Falls and Paddy’s Bridge on the south side of river around 1pm to get in touch with police if they heard the shouts or were the ones shouting.
A police spokesman said: “Around 1pm on Wednesday, January 1, officers attended to Sgurr a Mhiam following a report of concern for persons. Officers assisted the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team in searching the area but there was no trace of anyone.”
