Properties on the west coast were without power this morning.
Power cuts affected Drumbed, Lochinver, Elphin, Achiltibuie, Morefield, Rhue, Ardmair and the surrounding areas of Ullapool and Lairg.
SSE said engineers were “responding to this as fast as possible” and aimed to restore power by 1pm.
A spokeswoman said they were alerted about the problem at 9.42am this morning and the cause of the fault is being investigated.
She said just under 1,400 properties are affected.
She added: “We would like to apologise to our customers who have been affected by this morning’s power cut. We would like to thank them for their patience while our engineers work to restore power as safely and quickly as possible.”
The power was restored by 1pm.
