The clear-up operation following a landslide on the A82 near Urquhart Castle is expected to be complete today, allowing both lanes to open.
Traffic lights were in place after mud and debris fell onto the road blocking the northbound lane at midday on Tuesday.
Motorists travelling along Loch Ness have experienced delays since.
The landslide took place around a mile from the castle. Work continued to remove around 60 tonnes of material yesterday.
A BEAR Scotland spokesman said last night: “Bear teams are continuing clearance operations today on the A82 south of Drumnadrochit, removing around 60 tonnes of material from the roadside, and anticipate that the road will reopen to both lanes tomorrow.
“Temporary traffic lights will remain in place until works have concluded and the road is deemed safe to reopen.
“We’d like to thank the travelling public for their patience whilst this essential work is in progress.”
