Five charities have been chosen to benefit from a gruelling endurance event to be held in the north in the summer.
Last year’s Highland Cross, which is a 50-mile duathlon on foot and bike, raised £286,000 for chosen causes.
Now organisers have picked five groups to benefit from the 38th running of the event in June.
Tain-based CCAST Highland, the Glenurquhart Care Project, Inverness-based In This Together and Reach 4 Reality will all have efforts to fund new vehicles to run their projects backed by the event.
Meanwhile, Inverness-based The Oxygen Works, which provides therapy for those living with conditions including Lyme disease, firbromyalgia, cancer, Parkinson’s disease and diabetes among others, will use the money to help pay for a new generator for their oxygen chamber.
Volunteers from the five charities will join other fundraisers on the challenging event, which takes participants from the west coast at Kintail through Glen Affric and Strathglass and on to Beauly in the east.
Every year the event aims to raise money for causes that help those disadvantaged by disability, ill health or social need.
Calum Munro, co-founder and organising secretary of Highland Cross, said: “The independent charity selection panel has identified five brilliant causes.
“Everybody in the amazing community that comes together to make Highland Cross happen will do everything in their power to create a safe and enjoyable event to raise another great sum for these Highland organisations.”
