A fundraising appeal has been launched after vandals damaged the Scottish cathedral where pop star Madonna had her son Rocco baptised.
Thieves stole money and left a trail of destruction after breaking into Dornoch Cathedral in Sutherland sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning.
Gillian Swanson has now begun a fundraising appeal on the JustGiving website.
She is hoping to raise £1500 to make good the damage and within hours had raised half the total from 34 supporters.
Ms Swanson states on the page: “Let’s pull together as a community to cover the cost.
Police Scotland said it was following a “positive” line of enquiry.
The cathedral’s minister The Very Reverend Susan Brown, an ex-Moderator of the Church of Scotland General Assembly, became the first woman to take charge of a cathedral in the UK.
Mrs Brown conducted marriage ceremonies for Madonna and film director Guy Ritchie as well as for technology entrepreneur Elon Musk and actress Tallulah Riley and actress Ashley Judd and racing driver Dario Franchitti. They all later divorced.
Of the trio of famous marriages only that in 2010 of billionaire Musk and Riley married at Dornoch Cathedral. The others wed at nearby Skibo Castle.
But Mrs Brown also baptised Madonna and Ritchie’s son Rocco in 2000 at the 13th century cathedral.
She was appointed as a Chaplain to the Queen in 2011.
