A yellow weather warning has been issued with outbreaks of rain becoming persistent and occasionally heavy across western parts of the region. A combination of rain and melting snow is likely to lead to some flooding in a few places. Strong to gale force southwesterly winds may also exacerbate tricky travel conditions. A Met Office statement said: “Heavy rain and some snow melt may lead to some travel disruption through Saturday. The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning across the Highlands and Islands. “Bus and train services will probably be affected with spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer. “Flooding of a few homes and businesses is also possible.” The warning is expected to last from 6am until midnight.
