Staring into the camera, this stag is the latest evidence of the effects discarded gear and rubbish can have on the environment and wildlife.
The picture was taken on Lewis, and shows the red deer with blue rope entangled in its antlers.
There is a good chance this stag will be lucky and the blue rope will be a distant memory when it sheds its antlers.
But Morris Macleod, who took the picture this week after first spotting the beast with the rope attached about a month ago, said: “What it highlights is the danger we are exposing these animals too by careless disposing of our litter.”
The stag was snapped at Newmarket, on the outskirts of Stornoway.
In Apirl last year, a roe deer buck seen wandering in woods with a black bin liner stuck to its antlers and over its eyes.
The incident follows the deaths in 2018 of two red stags who became entangled in rope on a beach on the island of Rum.
