Two of Scotland’s biggest music festivals have announced their commitment to ensure both events go ahead as planned.

Organisers of Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, that has taken place in the Highlands since 2004, are hopeful that the show will go on despite concerns over the coronavirus outbreak.

The three day event is scheduled for late July with acts such as Emeli Sande and Passenger set to take the stage.

On Facebook a statement read: “As everyone is fully aware things are changing on a daily basis, but at this moment in time we are still progressing with plans for delivering Belladrum Festival this summer.

“As previously stated we will be monitoring the situation closely and following all advice and guidance from UK and Scottish Government and the World Health Organisation in the coming days, weeks and months.

“We will keep you fully updated as thing progress.”

Glasgow’s TRNSMT festival have also announced their plans to push ahead with the three day outdoor concert in July.

This year’s line up includes the Courteeners, Liam Gallagher, Foals and Lewis Capaldi.

A statement on social media said: “TRNSMT is still scheduled to go ahead as planned and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the event in 16 weeks.

“The health and safety of festival goers, staff, artists and the surrounding community is our main priority and we are constantly monitoring the situation in accordance with advice from the World Health Organisation, Health Protection Scotland, UK and Scottish Government and local public health authorities.”

The announcements follow the decision to cancel Glastonbury music festival that celebrates its 50th anniversary in June with headliners including Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney and Kendrick Lamar.
