Highland MSP Kate Forbes has warned people travelling north to escape major cities during the coronavirus outbreak that they are putting lives at risk.
The new Scottish finance secretary said there had been “a steady stream of traffic escaping the cities to the Highlands and islands”.
The number of coronavirus cases in Scotland continues to rise steadily, with 322 people now testing positive.
Six of those cases are in the Highlands while Shetland has 24.
In a message on Facebook, Ms Forbes said: “If you live elsewhere, please stop using the Highlands as your means of self-isolation.
“There are people here who are trying to follow government guidance and the steady stream of traffic escaping the cities to the Highlands and Islands is not helping.
“You are risking lives by potentially transmitting the virus to a new community.
“This isn’t a wilderness, it’s home to people.
