A law student from Mallaig has won a prestigious financial education prize.
Kirstie Ann Duncan, who is studying for an HND in legal services in Glasgow, has been named the Scottish winner of the F&C Investment Trust Prize.
The accolade showcases students’ financial understanding by challenging them to come up with ways to close to the UK’s financial knowledge gap.
Miss Duncan’s winning idea encouraged young people to consider their financial future and offers advice to make sure they are financially secure.
The former Mallaig High pupil said: “This is an incredible award to win and I am very thankful to the City of Glasgow College for their support and to the F&C Investment Trust for creating this opportunity to explore our financial future.”
Miss Duncan won in a public vote, beating competition from colleges and universities across the country.
Her prize includes a laptop, trophy, £5,000 for their faculty to invest in research and personal career mentoring to help with recruitment and networking.
The F&C Investment Trust Prize was launched in 2018 in a partnership between F&C Investment Trust and City of Glasgow College.
Paul Little, principal of City of Glasgow College, said: “Our congratulations go to Kirstie who is a very deserving winner.”
