A Covid-19 treatment resource has been set up in Castlebay school and leisure centre as a precautionary measure.
Given the limited resources on Barra and Vatersay and its distance from the hospital, the centre was established following a request from NHS Western Isles.
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar will also work with the community to establish a local shielding and support resource to coordinate all local authority and community resources.
There are currently no confirmed cases in the Western Isles and all precautionary measures will be implemented to ensure resources, service protocols and training are in place should they be required.
