A canoeist sparked a major search – involving a ferry and a lifeboat – lasting over two hours off the Outer Hebrides.
The Lochboisdale and Benbecula coastguard rescue teams, Barra Lifeboat, Griminish Independent Rescue Team, police and the CalMac ferry Lord of the Isles were all involved in the search for the paddler.
The alarm was sparked after a canoe was found in Lochboisdale on South Uist just after 4.30pm yesterday.
After an extensive search the owner of the canoe was located safe and well on the shoreline, said HM Coastguard.
