Two gardening fans have paid thousands to be taken on an exclusive tour of the grounds of a Highland castle by TV star Alan Titchmarsh.
The tour of the Castle of Mey, in Caithness, was up for grabs in an online auction run by Bonham’s to raise money for the NHS.
The winning pair shelled out £3,500 for the experience, contributing to a towering overall tally of more than £400,000.
The gardens of the Caithness retreat were cultivated by the Queen Mother and the Duke of Rothesay.
The experience was one of several high profile lots gifted by well-known public figures.
Mr Titchmarsh, best known for his roles on BBC shows Ground Force and Gardener’s World, will guide the winners through the walled garden and east garden before trekking through surrounding woodland.
The prize also includes a complimentary two-night stay for two at the Granary Lodge in the grounds.
Patrick Masson, Bonhams managing director for the UK and Europe, said: “This is a truly fantastic result and we are so pleased to have played our part in supporting the NHS staff and volunteers working so hard for us on the frontline.
“We would like to thank all the generous donors for making this possible, and to congratulate the winners, who now have some exceptional experiences to look forward to.”
