Members of the Nairn Coastguard Rescue Team were called out this afternoon to help a person cut off by the tide.
They were initially sent to assess an unknown object on the beach when they noticed someone stranded.
A spokesman said: “Whilst maintaining a safe area around the object, the team became aware of a person who had become cut off by the tide in the Old Bar area.
“As the team approached to pass instructions, the person attempted to wade across the channel.”
A rescue swimmer then had to be deployed to assist the person back to safety.
