A third death has been reported at a Skye care home at the centre of a coronavirus outbreak.
The death at Home Farm Care Home in Portree came just a day after two other residents who tested positive for Covid-19 died.
In total, 57 people at the care home have tested positive for the virus, including more than half of the 52-strong workforce.
Home operators HC One said its “thoughts and sympathies” remain with families who have lost loved ones, with bosses adding “We are doing our utmost to support them during this difficult time”.
The latest death was met with concern in the community after social media posts suggested some people who have allegedly tested positive for the virus have been ignoring advice to isolate and have visited popular walkways and grocery stores.
Local Councillor John Finlayson said: “The death of another resident is of great concern and shock to everyone and again my thoughts are with the affected families.
“I am also really concerned that there is a strong suggestion in the community that some people who have tested positive in Portree are still out and about.
“It is really important that people follow the clear guidance relating to self-isolation and also report to the police anyone not following the rules.”
