Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton has spread joy and cheer at a sheltered housing complex in her adopted home town of Nairn by delivering goodie bags to residents.
The Hollywood A-lister visited Whinnieknowe Gardens on Thursday dressed in protective equipment to distribute bags from Brodie Countryfare alongside a friend.
The residential properties are managed by Trust Housing Association, with staff and residents blown away by the generosity shown.
Stephanie Wallace, sheltered housing coordinator at the Nairn complex, said: “They ordered all of the items from Brodie Countryfare, which is good to see the support for a local business at this time.
“They came in with two large bags for each tenant full of posh treats and food which was very well thought out.
“I said to her that I was quite overwhelmed with what she was doing and said it was such a nice thing and she said ‘everybody in Nairn is my neighbour and I just want to help if I can’.
“She has said to us that if there is anything we need for the tenants during lockdown, or after lockdown, we have just got to phone her and she will help out as best as she can.
“She is very sweet and even offered to pop them out to all the flats herself.
“The reaction from the tenants has been amazing. A lot of people didn’t know who she was, but once I explained they were quite impressed and it definitely cheered them up.”
The Chronicles of Narnia and Doctor Strange actress has been invited to attend an afternoon tea with tenants once lockdown restrictions are lifted.
