A sixth resident at Home Farm Care Home on Skye who contracted Covid-19 has died.
The total number of people who have been diagnosed with the virus at the care facility currently stands at 57, with those who initially returned a negative diagnosis awaiting results of retests.
Operators HC One said its “thoughts and sympathies” remain with families who have lost loved ones, with bosses adding: “We are doing our utmost to support them during this difficult time”.
The death comes as rigorous testing is carried out on the island to contain the outbreak.
Local councillor John Finlayson has said his thoughts, along with those of his fellow islanders, remain with the families involved.
He said: “The whole Skye community is still very concerned about the situation at Home Farm and the high number of residents and staff who have tested positive for Covid 19.
“Everyone is also thinking of the families of those who have lost loved ones and I personally would also like to send my condolences to the affected families.”
