Dog owners have been urged to behave responsibly after an attack on sheep in the Highlands.
Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch MSP Kate Forbes said the owners involved were “thoughtless, selfish and foolish” for not putting their dog on a lead around the farm animals close to a stretch of the Speyside Way at Kincraig.
She said: “The consequences of an off-lead dog in a field of livestock can be devastating and traumatic for both the farmer and their animals.
“These attacks affect farmers financially and emotionally, when farming is tough enough. It is thoughtless, selfish and foolish not to put a lead on a dog when near livestock.”
A single lamb was found in the area in question with minor injuries last Friday.
Data released by the Crown Office confirmed that such offences increased by more than 40% between 2008 and 2018 across Scotland, with 28 instances recorded at Highland farms in 2018 alone.
