Authors are being encouraged to put their best work forward as submissions open for the 2020 Highland Book Prize.
The annual competition aims to recognise and develop a readership for books created in or about the Highlands of Scotland.
The competition, run by the Highland Society of London, saw more than 80 books by 50 different publishers submitted and reviewed by a panel of 105 volunteer readers last year.
The 2020 winner will be announced in a ceremony at the Ullapool Book Festival from May 7 to 9 next year.
Organisers are now appealing for works of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and short stories with strong connections to the north for consideration in the 2020 addition of the competition.
Each work entered will be required to promote or focus on Highland culture and feature a significant amount of activity in the north and must have been, or due to be published in the UK between January 1 and December 31 this year.
Entries from authors born or brought up in the Highlands will also be granted, alongside authors who have resided in the north for six years or more.
The winning entry will receive a cash prize and a place on a prestigious writing retreat at Moniack Mhor Creative Writing Centre.
Entrants have until 5pm on August 19 to apply via email to highlandbookprize@moniackmhor.org.uk
