A 50-year-old man has died three days after a disturbance in Wick.
Update:
Police confirmed last night the man, who was admitted to hospital following the weekend incident, died on Tuesday evening.
He has been named locally as Thomas McTeir.
The incident occurred on the town’s Barrogill Street around 9.30pm on Saturday.
Emergency services were called to the scene and Mr McTeir was taken to the Caithness General Hospital in Wick.
He was then transferred to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
A police spokeswoman confirmed he died on Tuesday evening. She said: “About 9.30pm on Saturday emergency services were called to a property on Barrogill Street, Wick, following a disturbance.
“A 50-year-old man was taken to Caithness General Hospital and was subsequently transferred to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, where he died during the evening of Tuesday.
“His death is being treated as unexplained, pending the outcome of a post-mortem examination.”
A 61-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the disturbance.
Police have been present at the scene this week with officers draped in white suits seen entering the property to investigate.
