Police are seeking the public’s help in piecing together details about a woman who was found dead in her home in Aviemore.
The woman, named as 68-year-old Anne Hodge, was discovered at an address on Burnside Road shortly before 6pm on Tuesday evening.
Officers have been unable to advise on when she might have died.
Police have said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding Ms Hodge’s death and a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal, as is standard practice.
The police are now seeking the public’s help to trace her next of kin, as her family history appears to be unknown.
Badenoch and Strathspey councillor Bill Lobban, who lives in Aviemore, said he was sad to learn of the death.
He said: “It is sad to see anyone passing away alone.
“I am very sorry to hear of this and I hope the next of kin can be contacted as soon as possible.
“Aviemore is a great place and I am sure locals are rallying together to assist in any way they can.
“If anybody does have any information that would help in tracing her family, I would urge them to contact police as they would be grateful to know.”
Anybody with any information is urged to contact police in Aviemore on 101.
