Two golfers have pitched in with £14,000 for charity after completing a marathon on-course challenge.
Bradley Smith and Calum Paterson, who work in the pro shop at the internationally renowned Royal Dornoch Golf Club, set out to raise £5,000 to help organisations during the pandemic.
The duo set off at 4.12am and finished almost 18 hours later, playing a total of 129 holes across the club’s Championship and Struie Courses.
Mr Smith, the shop retail manager, and Mr Paterson, the retail supervisor, have raised the money for the NHS and Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS).
CHSS is the chosen charity of Club Captain Rob Murray, and Ladies’ Captain Norma Fleming.
Mr Smith said: “Calum and myself achieved something truly special. Coming down the 18th on our last few holes, the crowd that appeared was truly inspirational and kept us going towards the end of a very long day.”
Mr Paterson added: “The Longest Day Challenge came to us as an idea in light of the recent events in the world, as well as raising money for the Club Captains’ charity at Royal Dornoch.
“It was an incredible day, one I’ll never forget, and thank you to everyone for their donations.”
